Day 1 - Rome
Stay in Rome for another two days to examine the myriad treasures of the Italian capital. Today, you might wish to join an optional excursion to Vatican City, featuring looks inside the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.

Vatican City
This guided tour takes you inside the world’s smallest state, Vatican City. Upon arrival, you'll first visit the Vatican Museums, which recently celebrated a 500-year anniversary and hold many of the world's most important classical and Renaissance-era sculptures. Next, you'll visit the Sistine Chapel, where you'll gaze on what is perhaps Michelangelo's masterpiece. Finally, you'll visit the enormous St. Peter’s Basilica, the epicenter of the Roman Catholic faith. The artists whose efforts have contributed to its glory are some of the best Italy has ever known, including Bramante, Peruzzi, Raphael and Michelangelo. Treasures await at every turn, from Bernini’s magnificent Scala Regia to Michelangelo’s Pietà. Please note: This excursion is not available on Sunday. Day 2 - Rome
Spend another day at your leisure in Rome or opt for an excursion to Castel Gandolfo and Ariccia Village. Explore Castel Gandolfo, the village where the Pope has been known to summer, and Ariccia, a hilltop village famous for its delicious porchetta and wine. Here you’ll tour a winery and sample its wines, olive oils and other local specialties.

Castel Gandolfo & Ariccia
Leave the city behind and enjoy an afternoon in Lazio’s wine country. Begin your excursion with a stop at Castel Gandolfo, a gorgeous village draped on the shores of Lake Albano. You’ll have the opportunity to see the Pope's summer home from across the lake. Later, you'll travel to a vineyard in nearby Ariccia for a wine tasting, where you'll sample a variety of wines as well as homemade olive oils and other specialties.

Day 3 - Rome
A Go Ahead representative accompanies you to the airport for your return flight home.

The Cardinal Hotel St. Peter is housed in a modern building and situated just outside the center of Rome, 2.5 kilometers from Vatican City, four kilometers from the Trevi Fountain, and five kilometers from the Colosseum. Guest rooms are air-conditioned and modernly decorated with neutral tones and amenities including satellite television, in-room safe, mini-bar and marble-tiled bathrooms with a hair dryer. There is a bar on the roof terrace where guests can also enjoy a hot tub with hydro massage overlooking St. Peter’s Basilica and city lights.
Extension is available on select departure dates, and space is limited. Please call early to hold your spot. Extension requires a minimum of 10 travelers.
