Perfect for all photography enthusiasts, this photography tour will guide you through Venice, Florence and Rome. You’ll see not only three of Italy’s greatest cities but also the vineyards of Tuscany, the winding alleys of Orvieto and the ruins of Rome’s ancient seaport at Ostia Antica. Internationally renowned photographer Oliviero Olivieri will accompany your tour and teach you how to create the perfect shot. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - Venice
Your trip begins with a regularly scheduled overnight flight to Venice aboard an internationally recognized airline.
Day 2 - Venice
Welcome to Venice! A Go Ahead representative greets you at the airport after you clear customs and then escorts you to your hotel. This evening, you’ll attend a lecture focusing on the technical aspects of photography. Next, join your group for a Welcome Dinner.

Day 3 - Venice
This morning, join an included photography walk through Venice. Depending on the morning light, you might visit a local fish market of Venice’s former Jewish ghetto. This afternoon, experience the romance of Venice on a guided sightseeing tour. Visit the Gothic Doge’s Palace, once the political heart of this powerful maritime empire. Wind through the labyrinthine streets and view several important churches. Later, opt to join a gondola tour of the canals, complete with music.

Gondola Ride with Music
More than 100 waterways crisscross Venice, and boarding a sleek black gondola to explore them has become a time-honored tradition. On this memorable excursion, join your fellow travelers for a tour through the canals of Venice. A musician serenades you as your gondola cruises through the city. Please note: This excursion runs as weather permits. A private two-person gondola ride is available for an additional $100 per person. Advanced reservations are required.

Day 4 - Venice
Early this morning, embark on a full-day photographic excursion to Burano and Torcello, two of the lesser-known islands in the Venetian Lagoon. Burano first rose to prominence thanks to its lacemakers, and today, the island’s colorful homes and businesses are its calling card. Torcello is home to some of the oldest structures in Venice, including the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the graceful Ponte del Diavolo.
Day 5 - Florence
Cross the Apennine Mountains to the timeless city of Florence, birthplace of the Italian language, opera and the Renaissance. Dinner is included tonight, along with a photography lecture.

Day 6 - Florence
Start your day with a guided photography tour to capture Florence in the soft light of the Tuscan morning sun. Later, a guided sightseeing tour of Florence introduces you to the city. Marvel at Brunelleschi’s masterpiece, Florence’s massive pink, white and green Duomo, complemented by Giotto’s Campanile. Then discover the Chiesa di Santa Croce, where the tombs of Galileo and Michelangelo as well as the Dante Memorial are displayed. You’ll also see the Palazzo Vecchio, which hosts as an open-air gallery of ancient and Renaissance statues.

Day 7 - Florence
Today, embark on an included excursion to San Gimignano, a Tuscan village known for its 14th century towers. From San Gimignano’s towers, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the Tuscan hills. Your tour will feature a mix of both sightseeing and photographic instruction. You’ll also take in the scenic beauty of Chianti country, one of the longest-tenured wine regions in Italy. You’ll pass by groves of silver-leafed olive trees, quaint hilltop towns and centuries-old vineyards. Lunch and a wine tasting are included.

Day 8 - Rome
As you journey to Rome, stop at the ancient Etruscan stronghold of Orvieto. Situated on a pedestal of volcanic rock, the lovely town of Orvieto boasts one of the finest Italian Gothic cathedrals in the country. Travel to this impressive medieval city by funicular and take in views of the surrounding Volscian Mountains. Arrive in Rome, where dinner is included, along with a photography lecture.

Day 9 - Rome
This morning, set out on an photography walk along the Tiber. Later, follow in the footsteps of the caesars during your guided sightseeing tour of Rome. Highlights include the Colosseum, where 50,000 spectators cheered their favorite gladiators to victory, and the ruins of the Forum Romanum, from which the caesars ruled their vast empire. The balance of the day is free at leisure.

Day 10 - Rome
An early morning photography walk lets you capture the iconic sights of Rome, including the Pantheon and the Giardino degli Aranci. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Consider joining out optional excursion to Vatican City, where a guided tour takes you through the Vatican Museums and into the Sistine Chapel.

Vatican City
This guided tour takes you inside the world’s smallest state, Vatican City. Upon arrival, you'll first visit the Vatican Museums, which recently celebrated a 500-year anniversary and hold many of the world's most important classical and Renaissance-era sculptures. Next, you'll visit the Sistine Chapel, where you'll gaze on what is perhaps Michelangelo's masterpiece. Finally, you'll visit the enormous St. Peter’s Basilica, the epicenter of the Roman Catholic faith. The artists whose efforts have contributed to its glory are some of the best Italy has ever known, including Bramante, Peruzzi, Raphael and Michelangelo. Treasures await at every turn, from Bernini’s magnificent Scala Regia to Michelangelo’s Pietà. Please note: This excursion is not available on Sunday. Day 11 - Rome
Rise and shine this morning on a photography excursion to Ostia Antica. Ostia was the seaport of ancient Rome, and you’ll have the chance to photograph its well-preserved ruins. Tonight, you’ll have a chance to showcase your favorite photos and view the images captured by your group during your time in Italy. Then, enjoy an included dinner and toast to your progress as a photographer!
