Clothing & Packing Tips
Light, loose-fitting clothing that provides comfort while walking and exploring the sites is essential for your tour. Shorts are comfortable to walk in, but bear in mind that they might deny you access to churches and religious sites. Hiking boots or sturdy, comfortable athletic shoes are recommended. You might also bring a change of footwear in case of weather changes, damage or formality. A plastic water bottle is handy for staying hydrated on your walking tours. Insect repellent, bandages, lip balm, a sunhat, sunglasses, sunblock, a collapsible walking stick and a flashlight are also a good idea. It’s always a good idea to be prepared for any eventuality—a lightweight sports jacket and emergency rainwear are advised. If you plan to visit an especially elegant restaurant or attend the opera or theater, you will probably feel more comfortable with something more formal to wear.
