Loved everything about this trip.

Our Tour Director was exceptional and the local guides were all very good. The country is beautiful and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend this trip and would love to go back to explore other areas that I did not get to see.

Ever since I studied Mandarin fifty years ago, I have wanted to visit mainland China, especially Beijing, the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta Warriors, and Shanghai. All of these wishes became reality during my recent tour of China with EF Go Ahead Tours.

What are some common dishes to try in China?

The cuisine in China is as diverse as its history. With each dynasty, new recipes and cooking styles emerged. The food on our trips to China will introduce you to many of the country’s Eight Cuisines: Shandong, Sichuan, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hunan, and Anhui.

Popular ingredients throughout the country include noodles, tofu, bok choy, bitter melon, Chinese broccoli, and meats like chicken, duck, and shrimp. Most meals are served with rice, and are often seasoned with ginger, garlic, and white pepper.

If your China tour visits the Yangtze River, you may sample Anhui cuisine. One traditional Anhui dish includes braised turtle with ham.

When is the best time to visit China?

We recommend the spring and fall, when the weather tends to be warm and dry. Summers can be very hot and humid and winters can be bitterly cold. The in-between seasons are the perfect time to visit China on one of our tours.

What are the benefits of taking a group tour to China?

When on an escorted tour of China, you’ll get to visit all the beautiful sites without the hassle of planning. You’ll also have an expert guide by your side to teach you all about the history, culture, and so much more.

One of the best parts of visiting China on a group tour is that you’ll make new friends, too. Traveling brings people closer together—especially in a place with different culture than your own.
