What you’ll learn
No matter which time of the year you visit Germany, you are bound to find yourself in the midst of a cheerful, vibrant festival or celebration. Not only are they fun, but they are also an incredible opportunity to completely immerse yourself in the German culture with the locals. Join Tour Directors Ildiko, Lala, and Alex for a conversation about some of the most anticipated events of the year, like Oktoberfest and the Christmas Markets, and one very special event that only occurs once every ten years: the Oberammergau Passion Play.

The speakers

Born in Azerbaijan, studied in Heidelberg and London, travelled the world. Comparative Linguistics and European Studies were the main focus of her academic studies. Lala lives in Berlin, famous for being diverse, edgy, and artsy city.
She has worked in different capacities for EF Go Ahead Tours over the past twenty-five years. Shearing her academic and personal experience, enriching people with in-depth knowledge of European history and art, changing some perspectives is the main driving force of her work. Lala loves putting complicated historic matters into 'it makes sense' narrative.
She is a big fan of classical music and jazz, adores reading and art, loves mountain hiking, fashion, traveling, learning and, according to many customers, she is a 'real people person'. Welcome to Lala Land!

As a German native and one of Go Ahead’s most experienced Tour Directors, Alex has been sharing his home country and the surrounding region with travelers for decades. He’s expertly lead groups through Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, northern Italy, and beyond, but one place he’s visited with travelers again and again is Oktoberfest in Germany—and he has countless Oktoberfest stories and tips to share from his many trips to Munich!

Hi! My name is Ildiko - I was born in Hungary but the last 20 years I mainly lived in Germany (Berlin and Munich). I speak German, English and Hungarian fluently and have a good command of French, some Italian and Russian as well. I am a curious and adventurous person so I have traveled a lot - practically my entire life... I have been leading tours for EF for 20 years and look forward to a lot more! I am passionate about art, architecture, history, urban narratives and traditions - and am keen on showing you all the most exciting places of Europe while also encouraging great understanding of the new places and lots of fun discoveries!
