Day 1: Arrival in Charleston

Welcome to South Carolina! Transfer to your hotel and get settled in. Then, the rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore the city.

Day 2: Sightseeing tour of Charleston

  • See the Old Slave Mart Museum, restored to recognize and educate on Charleston’s role in the slave trade industry

This afternoon head outside of Charleston to visit the Middleton Place plantation and gardens.

    This was a nice relaxing trip. The weather was nice. It did rain, but we were traveling on the bus, so no big deal. The excursions were interesting, the gardens were beautiful. We ate some really good food. The sweat tea was always consistently good.

    Tour pacing & mobility
    • You will walk for at least 2 hours daily across moderately uneven terrain, including paved roads and cobblestone streets, with few hills.
    • Travelers should be healthy enough to participate in all included walks without assistance. Adding optional excursions may increase the total amount of walking on your tour.
    • You should feel comfortable managing your own baggage at times.
    • Go Ahead Tours and the Tour Director who accompanies your group are unable to provide special, individual mobility assistance to travelers on tour.     • Round-trip flights booked through Go Ahead Tours arrive in Charleston, South Carolina and depart from Savannah, Georgia. A representative from Go Ahead Tours will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. Please remain in the arrival lounge, as the representative might be escorting one of your fellow travelers to the bus at the time of your arrival.
