Day 2: Arrival in Amsterdam
Included meal: Welcome dinner

Welcome to the Netherlands! Settle in at your hotel, then meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers at an intro mixer. Afterward, head as a group to a nearby restaurant for an included dinner, served with beer or wine, and continue getting to know one another as you eat.

Day 3: Sightseeing tour
Included meal: Breakfast

Amsterdam’s grachten, or canals, are a global icon and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They crisscross the city for over 60 miles—and today, you’ll take to their waters for your first proper look at the Venice of the North.

  • Survey Amsterdam’s past and present as you cruise by the Dutch National Opera & Ballet and beneath the Magere Brug—the famous “Skinny Bridge” that spans the Amstel River. Float by the Jodenbuurt, the former Jewish Quarter, and reflect on the city’s long association with Jewish culture.
  • See the Dancing Houses, cockeyed structures painted in flashes of vibrant color, and keep an eye out for flower bikes. Over 300 of these bloom-bedecked bikes can be found around the city, decorated and placed by an American expat known simply as “the Flower Bike Man.”

Once your cruise ends, make your way to the Rijksmuseum, the national art collection populated with the works of Dutch masters like Vermeer, Van Gogh, and Rembrandt. There, you’ll embark on A Pink History, a special guided tour highlighting pieces that examine the Netherlands’ relationship with the LGTBQ+ community. Through art, you’ll discover how attitudes toward same-sex love have changed over the centuries, beginning in the Middle Ages and running through the present.

Wrap up at the Rijksmuseum and spend a free afternoon in the city. If you add it to your itinerary, our optional Food of Amsterdam Walking Tour is a great way to familiarize yourself with Dutch cuisine. Hungry for more art instead? Make the short trek to the Van Gogh Museum and feast your eyes on the largest collection of his paintings, drawings, and letters in the world.

Day 4: LGBTQ+ walking tour
Included meal: Breakfast

In 2001, the Netherlands became the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage—but the country, and Amsterdam in particular, has been a leading light in the struggle for gay rights for more than 200 years. This morning, with a local guide leading the way, you’ll set out on a walking tour of the Dutch capital, stopping at LGBTQ+ landmarks and broadening your knowledge of the community as you go.

  • After getting dropped off by your bus, make the short walk to the canal-side Homomonument. Unveiled in 1987, this monument was the first of its kind, openly dedicated to gay men and lesbian women who were persecuted and killed during World War II and to all who still experience oppression due to their sexuality. The tips of this triangular memorial point at three symbolic locations: the National Monument, the Anne Frank House, and the local headquarters of COC Netherlands—a prominent Dutch LGBTQ+ rights group.
  • Cross some of the city’s smaller canals and pass by the 19th-century Royal Palace, admiring its classicist facade as you continue to Reguliersdwarsstraat (say it “RAY-goo-leers DVARS-straht”). Otherwise known as “Gay Street,” this lively boulevard is the beating heart of Amsterdam’s LGBTQ+ community. Soak up the vibes emanating from its bars, pubs, and shops, and make a mental note to come back during your free time.
  • Head to the end of the Zeedijk, a historic street in the old city center, and stop at Café ’t Mandje. Opened in 1927 by lesbian owner Bet van Beeran, this storied pub was the Netherlands’ first gay bar and, despite closing from 1982-2008, is still going strong today. Pop in to view its impressive collection of LGBTQ+ memorabilia, and maybe stay behind for a drink or two.

The afternoon is yours to dive into the joys of Amsterdam Pride. Film screenings, dance parties—take a walk and see what magic you find!

Please note: The order of today’s sightseeing stops may change depending on the activities that Amsterdam Pride has scheduled.

Day 5: Amsterdam Pride Parade
Included meal: Breakfast

No city does Pride quite like Amsterdam, and no procession is quite as special as the Dutch capital’s Canal Parade. You’ll begin your day by boarding your bus and rolling to a drop-off point. Then, find a vantage point and cheer as more than 80 elaborately decorated boats, representing a variety of organizations and networks, motor by. What you do next is up to you—but whatever you choose, you’ll feel the electricity in the air as an entire city celebrates the past, present, and future of the LGBTQ+ community.

Please note: There will be no bus pickup after the Canal Parade. You’ll be responsible for making your way back to the hotel.

Day 6: Free day in Amsterdam
Included meals: Breakfast, Farewell dinner

Take your last full day in Amsterdam at your leisure. If you’d prefer to stay in town, head back onto the streets and join in on the Pride events you come across. If you’d rather add an extra stop to your trip, tack on our optional excursion to Delft. Medieval architecture, picturesque canals, eponymous pottery—it has the lot.

Whatever your choice, reconvene at a local restaurant in the evening for a farewell dinner, and toast to beautiful memories made with your travel buddies.

Day 7: Train ride to Paris & evening cabaret show
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Start your day with a high-speed train ride to Paris. Once you arrive in the French capital, transfer to your hotel and use your afternoon to get situated or explore the area. (With cafes and boulangeries seemingly on every corner, a little wandering goes a long way.)

Later on in the evening, dress your best for a night out in the city. Head to a local restaurant for an included dinner, served with beer or wine, then head to a cabaret for a dazzlingly glamorous—and thoroughly unforgettable—show.

Please note: Travelers should be prepared for an early morning train departure.

Day 8: Sightseeing tour of Paris
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting

Ready for more of Paris’ splendor? With a local guide leading the way, you’ll get an overview of its most recognizable landmarks and a feel for the character of its arrondissements. (That’s French for “districts,” and it’s how Parisians refer to the city’s neighborhoods.)

  • Drive down the sycamore-lined Avenue des Champs-Élysées—an icon of France that’s lined with majestic monuments, glitzy restaurants, and glamorous storefronts. Continue to its western end and take in the magnificent Arc de Triomphe, originally built to commemorate one of Napoleon’s many conquests. A dozen different avenues spoke from this epic arch, making it Paris’ symbolic heart.
  • Make a photo stop at the Eiffel Tower (you know this one!) before viewing the Palais Garnier opera house and the Place de la Concorde, the city’s grandest square.
  • Pass the 16th-century Pont Neuf, the oldest stone bridge in Paris, and Notre-Dame Cathedral. Watching over its arrondissement from an island in the Seine River, this French Gothic masterwork is one of the city’s enduring sights.
  • Walk through Le Marais. Spread across the 3rd and 4th arrondissements on the Right Bank of the Seine, this charming neighborhood traces its history back to the 13th century. Over the intervening years, it served as a base for the Knights Templar, a home for French aristocrats, a refuge for Jewish immigrants, and—beginning in the 1980s—a hub for Paris’ LGBTQ+ community. Dig deeper into the district’s history as you go, stopping for treats like fresh pastries and macarons.

Choose how to spend a free evening in the city. To see Paris’ twinkling lights from a different perspective, add our optional Dinner in Paris & Seine River Cruise excursion. Alternatively, roam the streets by foot and see where the city’s glittering lamps take you.

Or, stay in town and use your free time to return to the Champ-de-Mars and savor a picnic in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

This evening, enjoy a farewell drink as you celebrate your trip with your fellow group members.
