Such a value! Every day offered us opportunities to see and do so much with the group, as well as opportunities to tour on our own. Each destination had a city tour with excellent professional, knowledgeable local guides who not only shared their passion for their city but also the cities history.

Travel tips for Morocco trips

When to visit Morocco

As with many destinations around the globe, the off-season is one of the best times to set off on trips to Morocco. The shoulder seasons that fall between March to May and September to November are pleasantly warm with smaller crowds. Spring and fall are relatively dry, and are ideal times to get outdoors on Morocco small group tours.

If heat is up your alley, summertime tours of Morocco are the way to go. Summer temps in the Sahara Desert soar, but it's cooler in the Atlas Mountains. Just keep in mind that the end of May to mid-June is the time for Ramadan, when Muslims take time to fast, pray, and focus on community. Some shops and restaurants may be closed or have more limited hours during this holy month, which is something to consider while you're planning Morocco tours.

The winter months are mild, although temperatures can drop during the night. December and January are also prone to more rain, so keep that in mind as you consider the best time to take small group tours of Morocco.

Where to go in Morocco

No tours of Morocco are complete without visiting the country’s bustling souks. These marketplaces can be explored on tours of Marrakech, Fes, and beyond, and are the places to rub elbows with locals as you shop for a variety of authentic goods including spices, jewelry, and hand-woven fabrics. Remember to barter for your wares—it’s a culturally accepted part of the experience!

See another side of the country while exploring the Sahara Desert region on our Morocco guided tours. Set off on our Highlights of Morocco: Marrakech, the Sahara & Fes tour to see the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, take a camel ride, hop in a 4x4 Jeep, and visit to a Bedouin camp for the ultimate in authentic experiences.

When you think of Morocco, Casablanca may spring to mind. The city was made famous by the eponymous 1942 film, and it’s in this seaside locale where you can visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest in Morocco, and admire views of the ocean.

Of course, walking through walled medinas, or old towns, is one of the best ways to explore on any Morocco group tours. Explore the Fes Medina, and stroll through the hilltop medina in Chefchaouen, which is painted in different shades of blue.

Dining tips for Morocco

Moroccan food reflects a combination of Middle Eastern, French, Spanish, and African culinary influences, which have given the country’s food scene a flair all its own. When it comes to the cuisine you'll try on trips to Morocco, herbs and spices are key! Unique blends of spices like saffron, turmeric, cinnamon, and cumin make everything from meat and fish dishes to veggies and desserts truly memorable.

One dish you’re sure to find on Morocco guided tours is tagine. This term refers to both conical, earthenware pots as well as the savory, slow-cooked meat, fish, vegetable, and fruit dishes prepared in them. It’s often served alongside couscous (another Moroccan staple), and is one of the most popular dishes to try while visiting the country.

Dishes made with olives, dates, and chickpeas are also must-tries on tours of Morocco. No matter the meal, mint tea is the thing to sip to wash it down. It’s served at all times of day and is traditionally very sweet.

Packing tips for Morocco

Morocco is home to stunning desert, coastal, and mountainous landscapes, which means that what you pack depends on the time of year you’re visiting and which area you plan to explore. A good rule of thumb for any Morocco tours is to bring light layers as well as rainwear. That way, you’ll be prepared if the temperature changes or you experience rain showers while you’re out exploring.

As you might expect, summertime in the Sahara Desert and other regions of the country get very hot. Light clothing like linen is most comfortable when temperatures get into the triple digits. No matter when you set off on Morocco group tours, sun protection like sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats is key.

It’s best to keep your legs and shoulders covered while visiting mosques or other religious sites on Morocco tours, which is when a light scarf can come in handy! It’s good to keep in mind that this type of modest dress is preferred for women in general in Morocco. Female travelers often feel more comfortable with shoulders and bare knees covered at all times on their Morocco tours.
