View of Barcelona from Park Güell, featuring colorful mosaics, unique architecture, and a cityscape with the sea on the horizon.
Quote by Oswald, Spain for Solo Travelers, November 2025
There was a nice balance of sightseeing and free time. Every need was taken care of, from the transfers to and from the airport, to the rail tickets, the drivers, and the local guides. Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give our tour manager Mariola her flowers. From the first moment at the airport in Barcelona to the transfer to the airport in Malaga, I was in safe hands the entire way. Her enthusiasm and love of Spain always brightened the days.

How to experience Barcelona like a pro

Wander off the major boulevards

The real Barcelona hides in its side streets: tapas bars with just a handful of tables, a tiny square tucked between alleys, and neighbors catching up across balconies. Ask your Tour Director for a starting-off point, then get a little lost. You’ll see and feel more than any checklist could offer.

Follow the local rhythm of life

Barcelona invites you to surrender to a slower pace and take your time around the city. Take a longer lunch, enjoy the quiet of the mid-afternoon siesta, or catch and really savor the sunset. There’s no need to rush. Use your free days on tour to let the city unfold as it always has.

Master the art of the tapas crawl

Skip one big dinner and graze your way through a neighborhood or two instead. A few bites here, a pitcher of sangria there—it’s the perfect opportunity to try lots of dishes before picking your favorite. And if your tour includes an optional cooking class, take it—you’ll learn how to bring these flavors back to your own kitchen.

Let the Mediterranean reset you

Take a few hours at the Barceloneta seafront. Order a cold clara (beer with lemon soda), dig your toes in the sand, and treat yourself to some people watching. The amber light and the sun sinking into the sea are your companions no matter what time of year you visit.
