Where to find the best views in the U.S. & Canada

May 07, 2020 by The Go Ahead Tours Team

We created Tiny Escapes to help bring joy to your day in these unprecedented times. Follow us here or on Instagram and Facebook for more little distractions.

Our well-traveled team has been all over the world, but some of the places our we’re all still dreaming about are right here at home. See where you can find some of the best views in the U.S. and Canada on tour, and get a preview at home with a little help from Google Earth.

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon

On a national parks tour, our staffer Katie had the chance to walk along the Grand Canyon—and see it from above. Her tip? Set out to explore the South Rim for “unbeatable views,” but don’t miss the Grand Canyon Helicopter Ride excursion. “Seeing the massive canyon from a bird’s-eye view proved to be even more awe-inspiring,” she said.

Hana Highway, Maui

You can soak in the beauty of Hawaii’s Hana Highway from the road, but our staffer Haley chose a more adventurous route on her Hawaii tour. “Hiking along the Hana Highway was one of my favorite experiences. The falls are really beautiful, and you can jump in the water if you want to cool down.”

The Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia

On his tour of the Canadian Maritimes, Evan was wowed by this natural wonder. “It’s fascinating to think about how different the landscape will look depending on whether or not it’s high or low tide.”

Lake Louise, Alberta

If you’re wondering whether Lake Louise is just as turquoise in person as it looks in photos, we promise it is. Don’t want to take our word for it? Visit Lake Louise and Banff National Park on tour—and even soak in all the scenery from your seat on the famous Rocky Mountaineer train.

Highway 1, California

Another scenic route to add to your list? California’s Highway 1, which connects Los Angeles to San Francisco. The most famous (and picturesque) portion goes along California’s rocky coastline through Big Sur, and offers almost endless opportunities to take in the view. “We probably stopped 10 or 15 times,” says our staffer Jamie, who took the drive on her own trip. “From spotting elephant seals to seeing that iconic bridge, each view outdid the last.”
