The Greek Isles: A look through the lens

Aug 30, 2017 by The Go Ahead Tours Team

It’s the quick moments, an interaction in the street or a quiet morning, that inspire photographer Jessica when she travels. Here, she shares some of her favorite shots from her time exploring Greece on tour.

Santorini musicians

Santorini

In the village of Pyrgos, I followed the sound of music down an alleyway, only to find two musicians playing their instruments. Turns out I’d stumbled upon a wedding and these guys were setting the mood.

Oracle at Delphi

Delphi

The Temple of Apollo at Delphi is where the legendary Oracle once revealed the future to inquiring ancient Greeks. What struck me most about it was how perfectly it’s tucked away in the mountains, hidden unless you know where to find it.

Mykonos vendor

Mykonos

One morning I woke up at around 5:30 to do some exploring and beat the high season crowds. As I was walking through the port area, I came across this man setting up all his vegetables for the day.

Mykonos boat

Little Venice, Mykonos

I’d been hoping to catch some fishermen heading out for the morning, but because of a heat wave, nobody was fishing. All the boats were docked so nicely with Little Venice in the background that I couldn’t help but take a photo, even though it wasn’t the one I was originally looking for.

Acropolis

Athens

This was up at the Acropolis, across from the Parthenon. Not only are the ruins beautiful, but up here you can get some of the best views of the city and all the mountains surrounding it.
