Provence Walking Tour

Starting in Cannes and meandering through picturesque landscapes and vineyards before ending in Nice, the Provence Walking Tour offers some of the most charming perspectives of southern France. Here, Jimmy captures some of his favorite sights from tour.

The optional excursion to the Châteauneuf-du-Pape winery for a wine tasting and dinner was absolutely incredible. The chateau is completely surrounded by vineyards, our guide was great, and the interactive experience for the tasting (we tried to name all of the flavors we were experiencing) made it incredibly interesting. Plus, the view was amazing!

Visit to the Fragonard perfume factory

One of two major perfume houses in France, Fragonard is located in Grasse—a city many consider to be the perfume capital of the world. One of the oldest factories in the city, Fragonard provides a number of designer brands with their signature fragrances.

“The tour of the perfume factory was very interesting, and it was fun to try out all of the different fragrances. We even got a surprise when we got back on the bus, which was a few samples to take home!”

Seeing red: 3 things to know about Roussillon

red rock formations in roussilon france

1. Roussillon is famous for its ochre mines

The clay is pigmented reddish-orange as a result of iron oxide deposits from millions of years ago, when Provence was under water.

2. Ochre is used to build homes

Much of the ochre was used to build the homes in Roussillon, giving the whole town a uniform shade of red that stands out among the surrounding green landscapes.

3. The official language is Catalan

Many people in Roussillon also speak Catalan, since Roussillon is so close to Catalonia.
