5 reasons to go to Iceland (especially Reykjavik!)

We asked Go Ahead staffer Christina to tell us her favorite things about Reykjavik, the city she explored on her tour of Iceland. Read on to see what she had to say.

1. Laugavegur Street

It's the go-to part of the city for shopping and fun dining options! I loved exploring it while I was visiting Iceland.

2. Watching the sunset on the waterfront

It was was just a short walk from the hotel, and seeing it felt like the sun was going down on the edge of the world.

3. The unexpected variety of cuisine options

I found something for every palate, from Icelandic Street Food to Sushi or Pad Thai.

4. Icelandic beer!

Enough said.

5. Reykjavik is an interesting blend of old world and new world

The heritage the city has preserved can be seen in the old parliament buildings and structures that remain kept, sitting in quiet repose for the wandering tourist. These among a larger array of modern minimalist government buildings or colorful splashes of unique local store fronts and cafes.
